Opening an Account with a Romanian Bank

As most of the formalities and procedures for opening an account are still conducted in paper form, the physical presence of the beneficiary or representative is required.

The Capital Account: Required Documentation
|
- The project of Incorporation Deeds of the Company (prepared by a local lawyer), including details of the reason of the company.
- A mandate signed by the shareholders or directors of the future company whereby a specific individual is nominated to act as representative for the company.

Once the capital account is opened and the company is registered with the Trade Register (usually possible within two weeks), a current account can be made available for normal business operations or activity.

The Current Account: Required Documentation
|
- Authorisation to set up a business by the Judge at the Trade Register.
- Registration certificate issued by the Trade Register.
- Operating authorisation for those companies whose activity requires a special authorisation
(e.g. securities companies, investment funds, banking, insurance, leasing, transportation, foreign
exchange, gambling companies…).
- Certified copies of the identification cards (e.g. passports) of all the authorized bank signatories for the
company.
- A signed and completed Bank Account Opening Form, as well as a completed signature(s) specimen
slip for the abovementioned authorized bank signatories.
- Final Company Incorporating Deed.
