There are ten days dedicated to IT industry and to devotees of innovation and technologies

The umbrella-event includes conferences, hackathon, start-up pitch, exhibition and the gala of industry award

TechFest, the first festival of technology from Transilvania, is getting ready to start. Programmers, entrepreneurs and devotees of the state-of-art technology are awaited at Cluj-Napoca between 11 and 20 November for ten-day different events, dedicated to IT industry. The latest novelties of the festival were presented by organisers on Wednesday, during a press conference.

”TechFest” is addressed to the entire IT industry, from company managers and programmers to gadgets devotees and young people who wish a career in this field. The ten days of festival bring events dedicated to all categories of public and we are convinced that, shortly, TechFest will become a reference festival for this area of Europe”, declared Cristian Dascălu, founder of StartUp Centre Transilvania, the TechFest organisers.

“We are here because we like technology and innovation, but not only for this reason. We live in a society where technology is present everywhere and succeeded in changing social customs, where the new generation is more used to keyboard than to handwriting and where we, the companies, employ for jobs that did not exist ten years ago. TechFest shows the way to a future where technology will help communities to develop better, and BRD is alongside Cluj in this journey”, transmitted Călin Cojocaru, the retail regional manager of BRD Groupe Société Générale, co-organiser of the event.

TechFest 2016 starts with MegaHack, where hundreds of programmers and devotees are awaited to solve, in teams, tests proposed by the partners of the festival. MegaHack takes place between 11 and 13 November in the event area at Iulius Mall, and the public can assist the 50-hour coding marathon. Another competition within TechFest is Transilvania DemoDay, on 20 November, where 20 start-ups will be presented in front of potential investors.
