BRD invites children to see “What’s the matter with the contemporary art” at the Scena9 Residence

01 Oct 2016

Scena9 Residence hosts interactive workshops organized by Ephemair Association in collaboration with Matka Association, at which children aged between 4 and 11 are initiated in the universe of the contemporary art. The workshops took place in October week-ends and the participation was free of charge.

“I notice that with each edition of the White Night of the Galleries, more and more children interested to discover and to understand the works they watch come to this event organized by Ephemair Association. Because of the fact that contemporary art is little promoted nowadays in formal education programmes, especially at small ages, we think that this kind of projects are necessary and they are possible thanks to the partners that support us and whit whom we share common premises and values” said Suzana Dan, visual artist and cultural manager, Ephemair Association

Getting Romanian audience closer and closer to the contemporary art is a continuous process that we think should be based on the education of the very young generation. That is why we chose to support Ephemair Association to talk with the children, on their language, about the works present at the No Man’s Land exposition and to encourage them to express their creativity. The interest shown by the little students at the first workshops from 9th Stage Residence confirmed us the usefulness of this activity”, said Flavia Popa, General Secretary, BRD – Groupe Société Générale.

Theevent includes two types of activities, each lasting 40 min. The first part was a tour of the No Man’s Land exhibition, housed by Scena9 Residence in October, followed by a practical part in which the children worked on a given theme. Thus, the children are helped to deepen and to put in practice information both about the technique used in the creation of the works and about the correct way to choose the right mean of transmitting a message.

Scena9 Residence is a cultural hotspot created by BRD - Groupe Société Générale. It is located in a building on 32, Ion Luca Caragiale Street that was declared a historical monument and which was built in 1890. BRD proposed itself to change it into a cultural-artistic space, opened to the new generations of creators.

The first exhibition housed by 9th Stage Residence is No Man’s Land, which reunites on the same territory different artistic visions of Romanian artists from 10 cities and which was opened until October 30th, 2016.
